I haven't seen the first one, so this all purely speculation. Rua is a beast. Griffin is a machine. Stylistically, I think Rua is the better striker, though I think the layoff from fighting due to the recovery from surgery has really affected his performance. You could see it in his fight against Jones, I think we saw Rua at 60, maybe 70%. Rua against Machida, the second fight, that was him at peak fitness. If we see that same Rua versus Griffin, I'd give it to Rua. Not to sleight Griffin, the man is a machine, like I said, he puts in a sick amount of work at the gym, but he's just not as dynamic a striker as Rua, Griffin is more mechanical, more regimented, more technical. You could see that dynamic strikers throw him off, look at his destruction at the hands of Anderson Silva, actually, come to think of it, the same happened with Rua vs. Jones. Perhaps they're a good match-up, but I still think that Rua at 100% would demolish Griffin, though we can only wait and see.
